1. Installation

This script is pretty much self-installing; all you need to do is firstly create a database in phpmyadmin. You can call it whatever you want.

Next just upload the whole comments folder apart from readme.html to your web server and go to http://www.your-domain.com/shoutbox/setup.php and follow the instructions to install the script.

2. Customizing

To edit the look and layout of the comments page open index.php with text/web editor and
edit where the comments are.

To edit table backgrounds, colors borders etc open style.css and edit the code in that, comments in the file if you need help

3. Bad Word remover

This version comes with a Badword filter, which will replace words with whatever you want them to. You choose weather to have the filter on/off during the setup.

To add/remove badwords and replacements open badwords.txt or whatever your Badword file is called. Add bad words in the following way:

Badword, replacement

Put a new word every line.

4. Smilies

This version comes with smilies, it will replace a code such as :D with am image. You choose weather to have the filter on/off during the setup.

To add/remove smilies open smilies.txt or whatever your smilies file is called. Add smilies in the following way:

code,imgname.gif

Put a new word every line.
All images must be in the /smilies directory and make sure threre ISNT a space between the imgname.gif and the comma

5. Editing/Deleting posts

To edit and delete posts go to http://www.your-site.com/comments/admin.php and enter your admin password, this should take you back to the index page where there should now be some options next to the website of the post.
